Meet The Founder
Katherine Nixon holds a BBA from Texas A&M University in Accounting. She is certified as a project management professional (PMP©), a public accountant (CPA), and a professional coach (CPC).
While still in college, Katherine began her career in public accounting. In 1990, she started her own firm providing business consulting and complex tax reporting as the cornerstones of her services. Today, her firm is known as SETFS.
In 2007, Katherine began taking on project work, working on financial projects as the controller, assisting with post-acquisition transitions of systems, and aiding with enterprise resource planning. Meanwhile, SETFS was thriving! In 2010, they ranked 20th in the Aggie 100 by Mays Business School. The Aggie 100 annually honors the top 100 fastest growing Aggie-owned or led businesses in the world.
In 2013, after working in project management for a while, Katherine took her first Project Management Professional Boot Camp class. Less than a year later, she had passed the PMP© and was training others to take the PMP© as well. Before long, business was booming and Katherine expanded her repertoire, developing additional project management training, coaching, and leadership workshops
Currently, Katherine is Houston-based, but is more than willing to travel wherever training or projects take her. She is an active volunteer in her community and multiple professional and former student associations. Katherine has won numerous awards for communication and creativity and enjoys sharing her knowledge by speaking at events.
To summarize: Katherine’s background is in project management, accounting, income and estate tax law, coaching and auditing. She and her team at SETFS provide tax-advantaged strategies and reporting for diversified individuals, businesses and large estates.
